These are so cool!
http://www.gdiapers.com/
Good times, good times.
Today was really hard. I put Aidan in the crib to sleep and he didn't really like it at all. He did go to sleep, but he fussed a lot. He slept for 2 hours straight, which is the longest I think he has ever napped in his short little life. Usually it's more like 20 minutes. I just got fed up, he pooped on my leg, then I had to bathe him, then I had to shower because I was so full of poop, and he fussed while I was in the shower, so then I got out and got Jack dressed, and bounced the baby. He fell asleep, so I got up to get Jack lunch, and his eyes popped open as soon as I stopped bouncing. It really has been a long time coming, but I kept putting it off for whatever reason I could make up. But he is 5 months now, and needs to know how to go to sleep by himself. I don't want to be one of those people who has their 5 year old in their bed. Fine if it works for them, but I can't handle it.
Anyway, I think it made the baby really happy to have had such a good nap, he was pretty joyful the rest of the day.

ShakIREALLYdon'tthinkso.

I wanted my hair to look like Shakira's, I don't know. Look at my dumb picture with my half-closed eyes and weirdo tooth hanging out. Also, my hair is frizz city today, so I look like general poop, not like Shakria. My hips are lying, and so is my hair, but this is for you Lauren, because you wanted to see it!
whug.
Jack was fine, just allergies and we taked a bit about why he pukes when he tries something new. The doctor feels we just need to let him make up his mind whether or not he wants to eat and stop trying to force the issue. That sounds great to me, I would rather not argue about him needing to finish, or even begin for that matter. He said once he learns that eating issues won't get my attention, things should normalize.
Jack will be going on Thursday with David and I to visit his prospective preschool. My baby is all grown up now. :(

My Blahg is wonky!

Itwon't let me erase pictures or previous text. How unprofessional and weird. Today I am calling around for private preschools for Mr. Jack. Man, they are expensive. I missed the cutoff for public preschool, but they didn't really have a great ratio anyway.
Tomorrow I take Aidan to the doctor, and I am also taking Jack because his allergies are out of control. I am also a little worried about him, as he has begun to bite his nails. I hope he isn't worried or nervous about something. He bit it down to the quick on his pinky, and it looks all raw and meaty. I am also going to talk to the doctor about him throwing up when he tries something new. I don't think it's a big deal, but I also don't think it's too normal.
David went back to work today, and I feel a little bummed. It was nice to have him for a whole week. Soon he starts his new job, and he will be gone even more. For whatever reason, I am just bummed today. Everything is back to normal, and maybe I don't like normal all that much. I love being with the kids, but I wish we had some new stuff to do.
I really miss working sometimes, but David's job doesn't really allow for it unless I want to do daycare, and I just definitely don't at this point. I think I would end up guilting myself for it, even though tons of moms do it. The only way I feel like going back to work will work out is if David could watch the boys on his days off. But at the same time, that poses an issue with us not ever getting to see each other. I have been there and done that before, and it just strains the relationship, I feel.
I don't know what is wrong with me today! Yesterday I ate a boatload of chocolate, too. Maybe I should go for a walk with the kids. I am excited to find out how much Aidan gained, however. I will report back tomorrow. Here he is out in the swing again, and Jack playing in he sand.

How does my garden grow?

I have no idea. Obviously without my help, since I am such a horrible gardener. Here are my pretty tulips that my dad helped me plant.
I took the kids to my parents to see David since he was back from Africa. He told us some cool things about what he saw there and showed us a whole slideshow. It was really cool to see, but really eye-opening at the same time. The poverty there is tremendous. I was really happy and proud that he went there and did such good work. Here is a picture of David and Aidan. Poor David hasn't slept right yet since the he got back because he is trying to adjust to the time. He also brought back these really cool statues for us that I think are very neat. They don't stand by themselves, only when they lean on each other. I don't know if it was meant to be that way, but I think it matches my husband and I perfectly.
On the way over to my parent's house, Aidan fell fast asleep in his carseat, which is pretty rare. He cried almost the entire way home from Michigan, or so it seemed. Today I put him in Jack's first pair of shoes. It serves to remind me how fast time goes by, now that I see how tiny Jack's feet used to be. My sweet little butterbean is all grown up now, and Aidan is right behind him.
Lastly, I just want to touch on something I have talked about before. I don't post pictures of DJ, because for my own reasons I have always wanted to protect him. Mostly from his mother. I had thought that if she had stumbled upon my blog, she would see pictures of him and I would get in trouble. I don't know why. I think it could be one of those irrational fears. But I am sick of not posting good pictures and passing up opportunities to share him with my friends and family. I really don't care if she ever finds my blog and sees what, that I am a good Mom to her son? He really isn't even hers anymore. I think she gave that up a long time ago. So, without further ado, I will be posting pictures of DJ freely, and willy-nilly for all to see.
I have no clue why that picture popped up 3 times, but maybe it's because it wants you to see it 3 times. It is a good picture, after all.
Whew.

I really haven't updated in a while now! We finally got our new computer yesterday, and the Geek Squad dude came this morning. This computer can do all sorts of fancy-schmancy things! I have lots of stuff going on, so I wil try to compact all of it as best I can.
We just got back from our trip to Michigan, and it was wonderful. I got to see my long-lost friend, Lauren, and meet her beautiful family. We had a great time and it was definitely a highlight to be able to see her after so long. Her little man, Noah is such a sweetie and has a truly infectious personality. Jack loved playing with him and is still asking if we can go back to Noah's house. I hope we can see them all again soon. I also got to see my friend Maria, and it was really like I had never left. In about 20 minutes we were able to catch up, and she got to see and hold Aidan. I also got my hair done, and got to visit with my friend Jenny. She is really another person who is easy to get caught up with. She told me all about what is going on at the salon, and it really made me miss working there.
When we got home we got word that David had gotten a position he had interviewed for before we left. It is with another devision of the company, so there will be many changes for him. He starts in the middle of May. My brother David arrived saftely home from Africa, and we will be going to dinner at my parent's house tonight to hear about the trip. Just before I left I found out my sister is moving to San Fransisco, which makes me feel equally sad and excited for her.
When we got home we also found that my Dad had put up a baby swing on the playstructure. Last night we put Aidan in it and he loved it.

Well, you know you are a recluse when...
Speaking of science projects, two things. Numero uno, Aidan is eating avacado now. He hates bananas (thank you Gwen, for helping me to finally spell it right). What kind of kid hates bananas? He shudders with his whole tiny body. So yesterday, I tried mashed avacado and breastmilk. He loved it, got mad when I would not feed it to him quickly enough, and was grabbing the bowl out of my hands. The downside? The FARTS. Oh dear lord, he smelled like a sulfur bomb. He tricked me several times and made me think he had poop in the diaper, but alas, just gas. Well, so what did I do today? I fed it to him again!! He loves it. The problem is that he cannot have citrus, so I can't preserve it. I guess it's still okay brown, but I have issues with feeding him brown avacado. I mean, I won't even eat it. So I need to find something else too, or this could get expensive.
Now, numero dos, DJ got his report card yesterday, and he got ALL A's and B's! What an awesome kid! He has ADHD, and he still managed to do it! I am so proud of him! I have to think of something extra-special as a reward. His birthday is coming up May 2nd, and he is going to be 11. I am going to faint dead away at how fast time is going. He is learning about human growth and development at school, which creeps David and I out both equally. I mean, it's inevitable, but "lalalalalalalalalala". It's just so much, so soon. He is being very grown-up about it though, and is not one of the giggling kids in the back. He came home and told us he didn't understand what the other kids found so funny, which in turn, made me laugh. Of course, after he went to bed.
I went to Barnes and Noble the other day and bought a bunch of stuff. In Cold Blood, by Truman Capote, and selected poems of Anne Sexton. I love her poetry. I also got a CD by Sia, which is great. This past weekend I also saw Memoirs of a Geisha, and it was a beautiful movie. It stayed pretty close to the book, I thought. I think I am slowly starting to get part of my life back. I can read here and there and actually watch a movie.
